Exeter Works doors will be closing on 31 March, but you will still be able to get support and guidance on our website. The Youth Hub will open the doors to its new home in Exeter Library from 3 April.

The South West region spans a huge geography with a diverse range of industries and changing demographic profile. We encompass Swindon and Wiltshire; Gloucestershire; West of England; Somerset; Devon and Cornwall. The region is split into a north and south group who each meet three times a year and as one region we host an annual conference welcome to employer and young ambassadors. Our membership is made up of c80 public and private sector employers who have established apprenticeship programmes within their own organizations.

SWAAN is one of nine regional networks, supported by the National Apprenticeships Service and is also a member of the National Apprenticeship Ambassador Network.

The primary aim of the AAN is to support the delivery of a high quality apprenticeships programme. Specifically, AAN members through engagement with other employers and stakeholders, will promote how apprenticeships:

  • Can help tackle skills gaps
  • Enable the widening of access to skilled trades and professions
  • Are relevant across all sectors, therefore helping to deliver more apprenticeship starts
  • Enable progression routes.

The network forms a central hub for sharing good practice in apprenticeship delivery and learning from each other as well as developing new ideas for attracting, retaining and growing our apprenticeship programmes.
