East Devon locals, Exeter Chiefs fans, and fish and chips aficionados will almost certainly have visited Greendale Farm Shop, located just outside Exeter in Farringdon. Gearing up for a busy summer season, we chatted to Tom, manager of the Farm Shop, about why Greendale is a great place to work as well as visit.
Tom says: ‘Greendale has been a family business for generations. Family is our top priority for both staff and customers: we want families who visit us to have a great day, but we also want our team to feel like one of the family when they start working at Greendale.’
Building a happy team is the top priority at Greendale. Tom and his colleagues have worked to foster a culture based on openness, honesty, and doing the right thing; knowing that those three key principles will work to improve the overall experiences of both customers and staff.
Staff at Greendale work hard, play hard, and learn hard. You could work with their team of highly-skilled butchers, fishmongers, and bakers, who can teach you a variety of skills and will also pass on their expertise, collected over numerous years in the business, to improve your evening meals forever.

Working in the fast-paced and continually-growing restaurant will teach you coffee-making skills, give you the opportunity to learn how to manage a cellar, and, of course, to pour the perfect pint! At the same time, you’ll gain valuable customer service experience and become an expert at working with people from all backgrounds.
You could also be sitting alongside the Customer Service team, supporting them to ensure all bookings, orders, and customer comments are dealt with efficiently.
To top it off, you could even be out supporting the team of passionate animal keepers – between them, they ensure that all the animals are cared for to the highest standard.
As Tom puts it: ‘The phrase “every day is different” is epitomised by working here!’
If you’re interested in working for a family-owned business: where you can speak to a Director, where your opinions, comments, and suggestions will be heard, and where you will feel valued as an employee; why not consider joining the team at Greendale? One last bonus to donning the Greendale apron: access to their incredible fish and chips, and sandwiches from the deli counter if you forget your lunch!
